Yahnke red-shirted the 2011-12 season.

Delano High School
Yahnke earned four letters for basketball and three for track at Delano High School, where he was the Wright County Conference scoring leader with 21.5 points per game. He was a McDonald's All-American Nominee, named to the All-State Academic team, Minnesota All-Star Game and All-Conference Team in his junior and senior campaigns. Yahnke scored 1,257 points during his high school career, scored double figures during 57 consecutive games, recorded 33 double doubles and led his team with an average of 10.9 rebounds per game. Yahnke helped the Tigers be Section Finalists, Wright County Conference Champions and Glenco Holiday Tournament Champions. He was also a member of the Varsity Concert Choir and various church youth organizations.
