Broncs Soccer Continues Road Trip

DALLAS - Risking their 1-1 record by playing two more road games, the Texas-Pan American soccer Broncs challenge Centenary at 1 p.m. Saturday and SMU at 3 p.m. Sunday. Both games are at SMU.

"We're praying for good weather because if we have good weather we'll be playing on natural grass," said Dr. Miguel Paredes, UTPA soccer coach. "If it rains too much we'll play on artificial turn."

So far for the Broncs are unbeaten on a natural field, after winning 1-0 in overtime in the mud at Oral Roberts University. But they lost on the artificial turf at the University of Tulsa last Sunday, 2-0.

Miguel Santos, a strong Bronc forward from McAllen, won't make this trip because of an ankle injury. However, the Broncs gained the services of midfielder Javier Hernandez, a freshman who was MVP for Donna High and has now been declared eligible this season.

Centenary has a 3-2 record and the Southern Methodist Mustangs stand 3-1-1. SMU is ranked No. 8 nationally by the soccer coaches, and No. 14 by Soccer America.
