LEXINGTON, Ky - Brian Evans collected a goal and two assists Saturday when Missouri-Kansas City handed Texas-Pan American its second striaght soccer defeat by the same 4-1 score.
The University of Kentucky did all the socring in the second half Friday to defeat the UTPA Broncs in their opener, 4-1. The Broncs lost Alfredo (Fred) Flores when he suffered a broken leg Friday.
Flores, a 150-pound junior from Corpus Christi Moody, was admitted to the University Hospital and was in satisfactory condition.
Adrian Ausucua, a freshman from Tampico, Mexico, scored UTPA's goal Saturday in the 23rd minute on a direct free kick. His older brother
Daniel Ausucua, a sophomore, scored Friday's goal by chipping it over the goalkeeper from 15 yards in the 73rd minute.
In both games, the score was closer that the final looked. Kentucky's Wildcats broke a scoreless tie at the half and added two goals in the 75th and final minutes to pad a 2-1 lead.
UMKC's Kangaroos jumped on the Broncs early, scoring in the 12th minute on Mike Anderson's two-yarder and in the 20th minute on Evan's 10-yarder. Randy Schneider made it 3-1 at halftime with a five-yarder from in front of the goal.
Eric Parrish's penalty kick in the 65th minute ended UMKC's scoring. UMKC took 12 shots to the Broncs' nine. Kentucky took 13 shots to the Broncs' six. UK sub Jaime Schuer scored on two headers.
