CHICAGO, Illinois -- The third-seeded University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team (11-20, 5-5 GWC) faces the second-seeded University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux (15-14, 6-4 GWC) in the Great West semifinals on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Jones Convocation Center on the campus of Chicago State University.

The winner moves on to the championship game against the fourth-seeded New Jersy Institute of Technology on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

UTPA Men's Basketball Reinstates Cleveland

The University of Texas-Pan American Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Thursday that men's basketball sophomore forward Josh Cleveland has been reinstated from an indefinite suspension and will be available to play when the Broncs face North Dakota in the Great West Conference Tournament semifinals on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
 
Cleveland had been suspended indefinitely from game competition for violating the department code of conduct and team policy.
 
The UTPA Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will have no further comment.

  • The Broncs were playing short-handed as leading scorer Brandon Provost missed the game with an injury sustained in practice the previous day. Additionally, the Broncs dismissed Earl Jefferson from the team for violating the department code of conduct and team policy as well as for conduct detrimental to the team and suspended Josh Cleveland indefinitely from game competition for violating the department code of conduct and team policy.

North Dakota 86, UTPA 60 (2/27/12):

  • The Broncs had four players reach double-figures in scoring for the fourth time this season.
  • Jared Maree scored a game-high 17 points to move into 20th place on the all-time UTPA scoring list with 1,025 points. He also hauled in a season-high nine rebounds, tying his career-high.
  • Jesus Delgado tied his career-high with 14 points while hitting a career-high 6-of-10 shots.
  • Josh Cleveland scored 10 points while tying his career-high with two blocked shots.
  • Brandon Provost reached double-figures for the team-best 20th time this season, scoring 10 points.
