EDINBURG – Former University of Texas-Pan American men's basketball student-athletes
Brandon Provost and
Jesus Delgado have signed professional contracts with BG Leitershofen/Bergen in Germany and Soles de Mexicali in Mexico, respectively, for the 2013-14 season.
BG Leitershofen/Bergen (Topstar Kangaroos) is part of the German Pro B League, which begins in early October. The team plays in Augsburg, Germany, with training facilities in Bergen and Leitershofen.
Los Soles de Mexicali (Mexicali Suns) are part of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (National Professional Basketball League), which starts at the end of September. Mexicali is the capital of the northern Mexico state of Baja California Norte.
After transferring from Air Force, Provost played three seasons for the Broncs, averaging 13.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting .442 from the field, .452 from behind the arc and .802 from the foul line. This past season, Provost averaged a career-high 15.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while earning All-Great West Conference First Team honors. He finished his career 12
th in program history in scoring (1,252 points), second in three-point shooting (.452), third in three-pointers made (233), fourth in three-pointers attempted (516) and sixth in minutes played (2,994).
Delgado played two seasons from the Broncs after starting his career at Cochise Community College, averaging 7.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. This past season, Delgado started all 32 games and averaged a career-high 9.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists while earning All-Great West Conference Second Team honors.
Provost and Delgado will become the 23
rd and 24
