EDINBURG – The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Tuesday that a record 125 student-athletes made the Fall Athletic Director Honor Roll by achieving a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 while serving as full-time students and being eligible to compete as an active members of their squads during the fall semester.

UTPA Athletics will recognize these student-athletes at halftime of the men's basketball game against Utah Valley on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse.

Nineteen student-athletes earned perfect GPAs of 4.0. As a whole, the department's cumulative GPA, encompassing 216 student-athletes, is 3.04. In total, 61 percent of the 205 Broncs student-athletes eligible for the award earned AD Honor Roll honors.

Women's track & field had the most student-athletes named to the AD Honor Roll, with 27, while women's golf and women's tennis tied for the highest percentage, as all 11 of their student-athletes earned the honor.

Women's tennis had a department-best 3.51 GPA. Baseball had the highest GPA among men's teams at 3.31.

"Our student-athletes are continuing to excel by putting in a lot of hard work both in the classroom and in study hall," UTPA Director of Athletics Chris King said. "Their grade point averages are higher than that of the rest of the undergraduate student body. We're proud of the job they are doing."
