EDINBURG – Deandra Barroso is one of the best to ever compete for the track & field program, doing so from 2012-15.
As a senior, Barroso broke the program record in the outdoor 400-meter hurdles with a mark of 59.44 while competing in the NCAA West Preliminary Round following a WAC Championship in the same event.
Barroso actually competed in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminary Round and won the WAC Championship during each of her last two years.
She was also skilled at the long jump, winning the 2014 WAC Outdoor Championship and earning 2014 All-WAC Indoor First Team honors.
Now Barroso is imparting the lessons she learned on the next generation of student-athletes.
