Final Results

KYLE –The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf team finished in 12^thplace at the Texas State Invitational after finishing the second and third rounds on Tuesday at Plum Creek Golf Course.
 
UTRGV closed out the second round with a team score of 321 as it fell to 14^thin the standings but a final round 309 moved it back to 12^thplace with a three-round total of 939. The Vaqueros finished just one shot behind Southern Miss for 11^thplace and two shots behind Rutgers for 10^thplace. 
 
Senior Tilda Green posted a top-10 finish to lead UTRGV as she finished tied for ninth place. Green posted a second round 78 before bouncing back with a final round 74 to finish with a three-round score of 225. 

Sophomore and Brownsville Veterans alum Julie Lucio posted a 30^thplace finish after posting a second round 75 before closing out with a final round 79 for a three-round score of 232. Senior Vicky Gonzalez came in tied for 43^rdwith a three-round score of 236 after she carded a second round 81 and then shaving off four strokes in the final round with a 77.
 
Junior and Los Fresnos alum Briana Garza finished tied for 67^thwith a three-round score of 246. Garza posted a second round 87 before bouncing back with a final round 79 to finish with a three-round score of 246. Freshman Samantha Garza came in tied for 47^thwith a three-round score of 252 after a second round 87 and a final round 85. 
 
UTSA and Sam Houston State finished tied for first place as both teams finished with three-round scores of 896. UTSA's Hannah Holzmann took home the individual title with a three-round score of 213 after a second round 69 and a final round 70. 
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action from February 24-25 when it competes in the Islander Classic, as part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, in Corpus Christi.
