RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that the women's soccer team will host a free youth clinic on August 6 while the men's soccer team will host an exhibition match on August 13 in Brownsville.
 
The youth clinic will be held at the Brownsville Sports Park from 4:30-to-6:15 p.m. and will be open to girls ages 10-18 who are in elementary, middle, or high school on a first-come, first-serve basis.
 
To register in advance, interested participants can visit GoUTRGV.com/SoccerClinic.
 
All participants will be required to fill-out a waiver on-site prior to the start of the clinic. Check-in and on-site registration begin at 3:30 p.m.
 
"Brownsville is an important part of our community, and we are excited for this opportunity to give back by providing this soccer clinic," UTRGV Women's Soccer Head Coach Mark Foster said. "We received great feedback from last year's clinic, and we hope we can make this an annual event. We hope to see as many kids as possible attend. We look forward to seeing everyone there."

The men's team will be hosting St. Mary's at 6:30 p.m. at Brownsville Veterans Memorial High School. This will mark the second straight year the two program's face off in Brownsville. 
 
Admission to the match is complimentary.
 
"Last year was fantastic," UTRGV Men's Soccer Head Coach Bryheem Hancock said. "We have done some camps this past spring and this summer as well in Brownsville and it's always a really good turnout. They are very educated on the game and playing it the right way. The excitement and energy they bring to the match, as a player it makes you want to play harder, which makes the game more fun and more exciting, so we are looking to playing down there in Brownsville and continuing to do so."
