HOUSTON –The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team finished in 15^th place at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic on Tuesday at Westwood Golf Club.
 
The Vaqueros posted their best round in the final round with a 293 as they finished with a three-round score of 894. UTRGV finished just two shots back of Incarnate Word for 14^th and six strokes behind Stephen F. Austin for 13^th. 
 
Junior Javier Neira Garcia led the Vaqueros with a three-round score of 218 as he finished tied for 31^st after a final round two-over par 74. Sophomore Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque finished tied for 56^th with a three-round score of 224 after posting UTRGV's best round of the day with a one-under par 71. 
 
Freshman Henry Wang finished tied for 63^rd with a three-round score of 225 after carding a final round even par 72. Junior Leonardo Novella finished in 74^th with a three-round score of 228 after his third-straight round of 76. Redshirt sophomore Taj Sutherland finished tied for 82^nd with a three-round score of 232 after posting a final round 78. 
 
Sam Houston won the team title with a three-round score of 839 after posting a final round 281. Sam Houston's Bret Gray won the individual title with a three-round score of 205 with a final round 70.
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action from March 6-7 when they tee it up at the Colin Montgomery Invitational in Houston.
