SUGAR LAND – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team returns to action on Monday when they compete at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational, hosted by Houston Christian University, at Sweetwater Country Club.
The 54-hole event will feature 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday with play starting at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
Sweetwater Country Club plays 7,154 yards and is a par 72.
The Competition
There will be a 16-team field that will feature UTRGV, Houston Christian (two teams), Houston, Missouri State, North Dakota, Nicholls, Omaha, Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton, Texas A&M-Commerce, Incarnate Word, Weber State, Prairie View A&M, and Texas Southern.

The Vaqueros finished in 15
th at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic in Houston where they posted a three-round score of 894 with rounds of 300, 301, and 293.
Javier Neira Garcia led the way as he finished with a three-round score of 218 with rounds of 73, 71, and 74.
Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque finished tied for 56
th with a three-round score of 224 after posting rounds of 77, 76, and 71.
Henry Wang finished tied for 63
rd with a three-round score of 225 after turning in rounds of 75, 78, and 72.
Leonardo Novella came in 74
th with a three-round score of 228 with three-straight rounds of 76 and
Taj Sutherland finished tied for 82
nd with a three-round score of 232 with rounds of 76, 78, and 78.
Last Year at Colin Montgomerie Invitational
At last year's Colin Montgomerie Invitational, the Vaqueros finished in sixth place with a three-round score of 902 after rounds of 307, 297, and 298.
Taj Sutherland finished tied for seventh with a three-round score of 219 after posting rounds of 74, 72, and 73.
Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque finished tied for 16
th after finishing with a three-round score of 224 with rounds of 79, 72, and 73.
Sebastian Lundberg finished tied for 33
rd with a three-round score of 229 after posting rounds of 80, 73, and 76.
Leonardo Novella finished tied for 44
th after carding a three-round score of 232 with rounds of 76, 80, and 76 while
Tennoshin Ogawa finished tied for 68
th with a three-round score of 241 with rounds of 78, 80, and 83.
Southeastern Louisiana won the team title with a three-round score of 868 with rounds of 294, 291, and 283.
