RIO GRANDE VALLEY –The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Thursday that the department's 221 student-athletes posted a 3.34 grade point average (GPA) while 146 student-athletes are part of the spring semester Athletic Director's Honor Roll by achieving a GPA of at least 3.25 while serving as full-time students as part of a team during the spring semester.
The department's cumulative GPA now stands at 3.32.
One hundred fifteen student-athletes recorded a GPA of at least 3.50 to earn Dean's List recognition, including 45 student-athletes that finished the semester with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
By percentage, 66.06% of student-athletes earned a spot on the AD Honor Roll, 52.04% earned Dean's List recognition, and 20.36% recorded 4.0 GPAs.
"It is an incredible achievement to have two-thirds of our student-athletes earn AD Honor Roll recognition with more than half on the Dean's List," UTRGV Vice President and Director of Athletics

I am grateful for their dedication and that of our academic services team and coaches for their commitment to our student-athletes' work in the classroom."
Nine sport programs recorded team GPAs above 3.25, led by men's golf, which recorded a 3.87 GPA as all 10 student-athletes earned AD Honor Roll recognition, nine are part of the Dean's List, and six achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs. The men's golf team led the department in percentage of AD Honor Roll recipients (100%), Dean's List honorees (90%), and 4.0 GPAs (60%).
Women's soccer ranked second with a 3.72 GPA as 16 of their 19 student-athletes earned a spot on the AD Honor Roll, 15 made the Dean's List, and a department-high 10 had 4.0's.
Baseball led the department in those on the AD Honor Roll (26) and the Dean's List (20) while women's track & field/cross country ranked second with 24 on the AD Honor Roll and 17 on the Dean's List. Men's soccer ranked second in 4.0 GPAs with seven.
Women's golf had the second-highest percentage of AD Honor Roll recipients at 87.50%. Women's tennis had the second-highest percentage of Dean's List honorees at 81.82%. Women's soccer had the second-highest percentage of 4.0 GPAs at 52.63%.
