RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that graduate student Marvin McGhee III, of the men's basketball team, is the UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
McGhee helped the Vaqueros go 2-0 this week, earning their first conference win at Lamar on Tuesday and defeating the College of Biblical Studies (CBS) on Saturday.
 
McGhee scored 18 points in the win over the Cardinals while shooting 66.7% from behind the arc on six made threes. McGhee also contributed on the glass with seven rebounds, dished out a season-high three assists, and tabbed two steals.
 
In the win over CBS on Saturday, McGhee dropped a team-high 15 points and reached a milestone scoring his 1,000^th career point just two minutes into the contest. McGhee once again shot over 50% from the field and beyond the arc.
 
On the season, McGhee leads the Vaqueros in scoring, averaging 12.1 points per game, and has established himself as a threat from three-point range, ranking 19^th in the nation in three-point percentage shooting 48.3%.
