RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that graduate student Kade Hackerott, of the women's basketball team, is the Killers Golf UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Hackerott helped the Vaqueros go 1-1 this weekend including a 58-56 win over the second-place Lamar Cardinals in Beaumont. This was the Vaqueros first win over Lamar since 1997 and snapped a 17-game home winning streak for Lamar.
 
Hackerott led the way with a team-high 20 points, game-high six assists, and eight rebounds. Hackerott also went a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe.
 
On Thursday, Hackerott scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds in UTRGV's loss to Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches.
 
On the season, Hackerott leads the Vaqueros in points per game (12.9) and steals per game (1.1). She also ranks second on the team in rebounds per game (6.5) and assists per game (2.8).
 
The Vaqueros will be back at the UTRGV Fieldhouse Thursday to take on Incarnate Word at 6:30 p.m and Saturday for a bout against Houston Christian at 2 p.m. as part of a single-admission doubleheader with men's basketball.
