KERRVILLE – Redshirt senior Taj Sutherland paced The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team with a program record tying eight-under 64 in the final round of the Southland Conference (SLC) Championship on Wednesday at Comanche Trace Golf Course. 
 
Sutherland used his final round 64 to finish in third place with a season-best three-round score of 208. Sutherland had a near flawless round as he carded an eagle, seven birdies, nine pars and one bogey as he posted a seven-under 29 on the front nine with a one-under 35 on the back.
 
As a team, UTRGV finished their first SLC Championship in third place with a spring season best three-round score of two-under 862 after a final round five-under 283. UTRGV was just one of three teams to finish with a three-round score under par.
 
Sophomore McAllen Memorial alum Esteban Gonzalez finished tied for ninth with a three-round score of 216 after a final round two-over par 74. Junior Arthit Kruaprayong finished tied for 13^th with a three-round score of 217 after turning in a final round two-over par 74. 
 
Sophomore Emilio Gil Leyva finished tied for 23^rd with a three-round score of 222 with a final round one-under par 71. Junior Luis Limón carded a final round 76 as he finished with a two-round total of 154 to finish tied for 54^th. 
 
Augusta won the team SLC Championship with a three-round score of 843 after a final round 278. Augusta's Bo Blanchard held on to win the SLC individual championship with a three-round score of 200 after a final round 67.
