RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024-25 Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-District Teams on Tuesday, and sophomore
Keamonie Archie, graduate student
Samantha Gonzalez, junior
Lilliana Guerrero, junior
Hannah Hilding, and senior
Efe Latham from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) earned the honors.
To be eligible for Academic All-District recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and hold at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Track & field/cross country student-athletes must also meet at least one of the following athletic requirements: being a top 50 finisher at their 2024 NCAA cross country regional competition or ranking in the top 50 regionally as an individual in a single indoor or outdoor track & field event.
Archie, a kinesiology student from Hays, Kansas, was the silver medalist in long jump at the Southland Conference (SLC) Outdoor Championships and qualified for the NCAA West First Round in the event. His personal-best jump of 7.52 meters is tied for 10
th in the outdoor program record books. Archie was fourth in long jump at SLC Indoor Championships and tabbed two of the 10-best jumps in indoor program history, including the No. 2 jump with his indoor personal best of 7.45 meters. He won long jump at three outdoor meets. Archie was selected to the SLC Men's Track & Field All-Academic Team.
Gonzalez is the SLC Outdoor Champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and closed her career with a program and personal best time of 10:33.31 in her gold medal race. She also placed eighth in the 5,000-meter run at the outdoor conference meet. She finished the indoor season ranked 33
rd in the South Central region in the mile. The health science graduate student from Laredo set two additional program records in her final season, running 4:30.33 in the 1,500-meter run (outdoor) and 4:54.35 in the indoor mile. She made the SLC All-Conference Second Team after finishing 10
th at the cross country conference meet in November. Gonzalez was an automatic selection to the SLC Women's Track & Field All-Academic Team.
Guerrero is the SLC outdoor runner-up and indoor bronze medalist in the 800-meter run. The English major from Whiteface, Texas finished the indoor season ranked 31
st in the South Central region. Guerrero racked up seven top five finishes in her first track & field season at UTRGV and owns the program's No. 2 indoor and No. 3 outdoor times in the 800.
This is Hilding's second CSC Academic All-District Team recognition in a row and she was also an automatic selection to the SLC Women's Track & Field All-Academic Team. Hilding won the SLC Outdoor Championship in hammer throw and advanced to the NCAA West First Round for the second year in a row. She scored in three of four throwing events at the outdoor conference meet, finishing sixth in javelin and seventh in discus. At the indoor championships, Hilding was the bronze medalist in weight throw and sixth in shot put. The two-time SLC Women's Field Athlete of the Week was the SLC's best regional finisher in any women's throwing event as she took 24
th in the West. Hilding, a product of Stockholm, Sweden, is studying management.
Latham, a sociology student from Lasalle, Quebec, Canada, earned the silver medal in shot put at SLC Outdoor Championships and took fourth in hammer throw. She qualified for the NCAA West First Round in shot put and finished 36
th at the postseason meet. Latham was sixth in weight throw and eighth in shot put at SLC Indoor Championships, making an immediate impact in her first season competing for UTRGV. She was voted to the SLC Women's Track & Field All-Academic Team.
