RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that freshman
Dimitra Nanou, of the volleyball team, is the UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
Nanou had the best week of her season, scoring 4.87 points per set behind 4.0 kills per set to help UTRGV finish 1-1 this week against Lamar and Stephen F. Austin (SFA).
On Wednesday, Nanou finished the match with 11 kills, two aces, and six digs to help UTRGV sweep Lamar.
Nanou had a career day in UTRGV's five-set battle with SFA, finishing with a double-double and career-highs of 21 kills, 17 digs, and four aces. She also led all players scoring 25.5 points in the match.
On the season, Nanou leads a balanced attack from the Vaqueros with 2.98 kills per set.
Up next, UTRGV returns home for a two-game Southland Conference tilt against Northwestern State on Thursday and East Texas A&M on Saturday.
