Charlotte O'Keefe has been named the SLC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
O'Keefe garnered national attention with the third 20/20 game of her career Thursday in a win over reigning SLC Champion Southeastern. She stuffed the stat sheet with 22 rebounds, 22 points on 11-for-15 (.733) shooting from the field, four blocks, three steals and three assists. It was the SLC-leading fifth double-double of the season in her 100
th game at UTRGV.
Her 22 rebounds tied for the third-most tallied in a Div. I game this season, the 10th-most in a game in SLC history, and the third-most in a game in program history. She has recorded 20+ rebounds in a game five times in her career.
O'Keefe recorded her ninth double-digit rebounding performance in 12 games played this season as UTRGV battled top-ranked McNeese on Saturday. She had 10 rebounds, eight points and two blocks.
O'Keefe averaged a double-double on the week with 16.0 RPG, 15 PPG, and 3.0 BPG. She is now 37 rebounds away from becoming the first in program history to reach 1,000 career rebounds, currently sitting at 963. She leads the SLC in every rebounding category and national ranks second with 12.9 RPG, fifth with 8.7 defensive RPG, 11
th with 4.1 offensive RPG, and is the only SLC player averaging a double-double this season. She is scoring 10.8 points per game and is fourth in the SLC with 22 blocks.
The Vaqueros (9-9, 6-3 SLC) are on the road for a pair of conference games this week, starting with a 7 p.m. contest Thursday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union.
