RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that senior
Charlotte O'Keefe, of the women's basketball team, is the UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
For the second consecutive week, O'Keefe averaged a double-double, producing 19 rebounds per game, 13.5 points per game, and 2.5 blocks per game to help UTRGV go 2-0 this week with wins over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (AMCC) and Houston Christian (HCU).
O'Keefe earned another major career milestone on Saturday at HCU, reaching 1,000 career milestones, becoming just the 10
th active NCAA Div. I player to hit that milestone and the first player in program history.
O'Keefe didn't stop there as she tied a season-high with 22 rebounds while scoring 19 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the field, 3-for-3 from three, and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe. She also added three blocks and three assists in the Vaqueros 65-53 win over the Huskies.
Her 22 rebounds are tied for the fourth-most tallied in a Div. I game this season, the 10
th most in a game in SLC history, and the third-most in a game in program history. She has also recorded 20+rebounds in a game six times in her career.
At AMCC on Thursday, O'Keefe grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds while adding eight points, two blocks, and two steals to help anchor the Vaqueros defensively in their 61-49 win over the Islanders to sweep the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union.
The Vaqueros will host the Huskies Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse. Fans can purchase tickets at
