LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros swimming & diving program trails the Little Rock Trojans, 119-41, after completing the first day of their dual meet Friday at Donaghey Aquatic Center.
Sophomore
Manou Meulebeek earned the Vaqueros lone win of the afternoon, claiming a victory in the 3-meter springboard with a score of 280.35. Senior
Delaney Murphy turned in a second-place performance with a season-best 270.00.
The Vaqueros opened the swimming events by finishing in second and third in the 400 medley relay. The team of freshmen
Sasapin Sarawas,
Jaydy Jay,
Dia Henderson, and sophomore
Madiana Lofgren came in second with a time of 4:10.74 while the team of sophomore
Lauren Uribe, freshmen
Ava Light and
Ellinor Plant, and junior
AJ Rogers placed third with a time of 4:27.31.
Henderson carried that momentum into the 50 freestyle, turning in a bronze medal finish with a time of 25.60, to lead the team in the event.
The Vaqueros turned in another top three finish in the 200 freestyle relay as the team of Henderson, Jay, Sarawas, and Lofgren completed the event in 1:44.28.
The Vaqueros will return to the Donaghey Aquatic Center Saturday at 10:30 a.m. to wrap up the meet.
