Sampedro led the men's golf team to its first-ever Southland Conference (SLC) Championship. This was also the program's first conference championship in 2010 but the first-ever championship with an Automatic Qualifier.
 
Sampedro finished a team-high third in the SLC Championship and was only one of four golfers to shoot under-par for the whole tournament.
 
Sampedro tied for the lowest score in round two, carding a 67 to help UTRGV overtake second place in the team standings. Sampedro also scored in every round at the men's golf championships.
 
Sampedro helped the Vaqueros win the Compadres Collegiate earlier this season, hosted by UTRGV, in a field that included North Texas and UTSA among others.
 
The men's golf team will wait to find out what regional they will compete in during the NCAA Selection Show on May 6.
