Biography

2025 (Freshman): Did not compete in any indoor or outdoor meets. 

Prior to UTRGV (Rio Grande City HS): Barrera was a five-time gold medalist in shot put in the 2024 season. He took gold in both shot put and discus at the RGVCA Meet of Champions and was the district 30-5A champion in shot put and discus. He then placed third in shot put and took the victory in discus at the Area 29-30 meet. At Region IV-5A Barrera placed fifth in shot put and gained another gold medal in discus. Additionally, he placed seventh at the UIL 5A State Championship in discus. In 2023 he was a Region IV-5A qualifier in discus and the District 30-5A runner-up.
