EDINBURG, Texas- The University of Texas Pan American (UTPA) volleyball team look to snap their two-match losing streak as they face off against North Dakota at the UTPA Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
The Broncs (5-16, 1-3) are coming off back-to-back home losses against Houston Baptist (3-0) and Utah Valley (3-0). Although UTPA grabbed the early leads in each set on Thursday night, they could not sneak past Utah Valley (25-16, 25-20, 25-18).
Sarah Davis had nine kills to lead the way for the Broncs while
Diara Reynolds added six.
Shauna Miller had 17 assists and
Macey Singleton chipped eight.
Juri Franzen had 12 digs defensively.
On the season,
Ijanae Holman leads the team with 2.41 kills per set and adds 2.29 digs per set.
Shauna Miller averages 7.36 assists per set while
Juri Franzen leads the Broncs defensively with 3.91 digs per set and has a team-high 18 service aces.
Sarah Davis leads the team with 43 total blocks on the season.
North Dakota is coming off of a 3-0 victory over Minot State on October 10th. The Fighting Sioux have not lost a set since October 1 against Utah Valley and are on a three-match winning streak. Devin Trefz leads UND with 2.95 kills per set and Annika Smed adds 2.38 kills per set. Taylor Bohannon leads the Fighting Sioux defensively with 3.43 digs per set.
The last time UTPA and UND met was in the 2010 Great West Conference Tournament where North Dakota advanced to the championship match after defeating the Broncs 3-0. UTPA is 0-5 all-time against UND.
