FREEPORT, Bahamas -University of Texas-Pan American track and field alum Jameson Strachan had a strong showing at the National Track and Field Championships for the Bahamas on June 24th and 25th at the Grand Bahama Sports Complex. The Bahamas Association of Athletic Association (BAAA) hosted the event.

Strachan finished 8th in the 400m dash with a time of 47.79. Texas A&M's Demetrius Pinder won the race with a time of 45.49 seconds.

"We are all very proud of Jameson's accomplishments this year, culminating with his performance at the BTC National Championships,” UTPA Assistant Coach Xavier Richardson said. “I don't think we would be able to easily recollect a student-athlete at UTPA being able to boast that they represented their country at such a level and then going on to finish in such a fashion. We will certainly be looking to see what the future holds for such a talented young man."

Strachan had a tremendous senior season for the Broncs, which included a berth at the NCAA West Preliminary Round of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He won the Great West Conference championship in both the 200m and 400m dash. Strachan set the Broncs school record this season in the 400m dash with a time of 46.6 seconds at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos.
