RUSTON, Louisiana – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team (1-3) continues a stretch of three matches in three days when they visit the Louisiana Tech University Lady Techsters (4-2) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at the Lady Techster Tennis Complex.
Last Time Out
The Broncs are coming off of a 0-7 loss to the University of Louisiana Monroe Warhawks on Friday at Heard Stadium.
The Warhawks took five of the six singles matches in straight-sets.
Malin Andersen gave the Broncs their best chance at a point, taking the first set against
Silvia Tumova in the #2 spot 7-5. Tumova, however, came back to win the second set 6-2 and the third set 10-4.
Cindy Sands was the closest among the remaining Broncs to winning a set, falling in the first set to
Ema Turudija 6-3 in the #6 spot before dropping the second set 6-0.
The Broncs' closest doubles match involved the team of
Wanda Beguelin and
Dana Nazarova in the #2 spot. They fell to the duo of
Vivian Polak and Turudija 8-3.

The Broncs are 6-5 all-time against the Lady Techsters in a series that dates back to 1990. The Broncs and Lady Techsters last met in 2008.

Scouting the Lady Techsters
The Lady Techsters are coming off of a 2-1 road trip, ending with a 5-2 win at Southeastern Louisiana. In that match, the #2 doubles team of
Maartje de Wit and
Vivian ten Dolle won their match 8-1 while
Elne Barnard and
Anna Zurek won 8-5 in the #1 spot.
Their top two singles players lost, but Barnard and Zurek won in two competitive sets in the #3 and #6 spots respectively while
Maria Coronel and
Alena Erofeyeva won in three sets in the #4 and #5 spots respectively.
Erofeyeva leads the Lady Techsters with a record of 13-6, including a 6-0 mark in dual matches. She has won eight-straight matches.
The Lady Techsters are 2-0 at home this season, with a 6-1 win over Grambling State and a 5-2 win over McNeese State.
