After the Arabian Futures, I made my way to South India where I was scheduled to play three futures.
The first one was in Trichy. The weather was ridiculously hot, with temperatures getting around 40 degrees Celsius. This was my fifth-straight week of competition. The first 4 weeks went reasonably well, which I could be proud of.
The first round wasn't a very tough one in the main draw. But the real test was round two. I had to play a player who was ranked 600
th and a former-Davis Cupper. I won that match easily, 7-5, 6-1. It gave me a lot of confidence.
In the quarters, I had to play another Davis Cupper, who is currently ranked 450
th. It was an amazing match and I won 7-6, 7-6. I was very happy. It was one of my biggest wins and I made it to the semifinals for the first time in a pro circuit.
In the semis I had to play a strong player from Croatia. I won the first set 6-4, then went down 6-7, 1-6. It was a tough one, but it was a great match.
The next week was in Chennai, and it was another good week. I beat a player in singles who is ranked 700
th before losing in the quarterfinals to someone ranked 480
th. It was a very close match. I made it to the finals in doubles.
My ATP ranking in singles will go up to 870 from 1700, which is a big move. My doubles ranking is around 850 too.
GO BRONCS!!!!
