ResultsNORMAL, Ill. – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's golf team finished in 12
th place at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate after the final round was cancelled due to heavy rains in the area on Monday.
The Broncs finished tied with Evansville after shooting a two-round score of 603 (297,306). The Broncs finished just six strokes behind Northern Iowa, who finished in 11
th while Illinois State won the team championship with a two-round score of 584.
The Broncs were led by freshman
Nicolas Platret as he finished in a tie for 16
th place with a two-round score of 146 (71,75). Junior
Ramon Ventura-Camp finished tied for 32
nd after shooting a two-round score of 149 (75,74).
McAllen High alum and junior
Ricky Solis (76,79) and sophomore
Gareth Saxon (75,80) finished tied for 62
nd after posting a two-round score of 155. Freshman
Mariano Romero finished tied for 71
st after shooting a two-round score of 157 (79,78).
Central Arkansas' James Newton won the individual championship after shooting a two-round score of 140.
The Broncs have some time off before competing at the Harold Funston Invitational, hosted by Sam Houston State University, on October 6.
