NORMAL, Ill. – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's golf team finished in 12^th place at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate after the final round was cancelled due to heavy rains in the area on Monday.
 
The Broncs finished tied with Evansville after shooting a two-round score of 603 (297,306). The Broncs finished just six strokes behind Northern Iowa, who finished in 11^th while Illinois State won the team championship with a two-round score of 584.
 
The Broncs were led by freshman Nicolas Platret as he finished in a tie for 16^th place with a two-round score of 146 (71,75). Junior Ramon Ventura-Camp finished tied for 32^nd after shooting a two-round score of 149 (75,74).
 
McAllen High alum and junior Ricky Solis (76,79) and sophomore Gareth Saxon (75,80) finished tied for 62^nd after posting a two-round score of 155. Freshman Mariano Romero finished tied for 71^st after shooting a two-round score of 157 (79,78).
 
Central Arkansas' James Newton won the individual championship after shooting a two-round score of 140.
 
The Broncs have some time off before competing at the Harold Funston Invitational, hosted by Sam Houston State University, on October 6.
