Nicolas Platret shot a final round two-over par 74 to lead University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's golf team in the final round of the Sacramento State Invitational on Tuesday at Valley Hi Country Club.
Platret finished in a tie for 35
th with a three-round score of 225 (75,76,74) after shooting his best round of the tournament. After starting his round on the back nine, Platret made the turn with a one-over 37. On the front nine, he birdied two of his last four holes to turn in another one-over par 37 for his final round 74.
Junior and Sharyland alum
Peter Fox posted his best round of the tournament with a final round 78. He finished in a tie for 86
th with a three-round score of 240 (93,79,78). Junior and McAllen High alum
Ricky Solis finished tied for 91
st with a three-round score of 241 (78,85,78) after posting a final round 78. Sophomore
Gareth Saxon finished in 95
th with a three-round score of 244 (80,79,85) and senior
Chris Felix finished in 98
th with a three-round score of 248 (82,86,80).
Sacramento State's Luke Kristo won the individual title after shooting a three-round score of 208.
As a team, the Broncs shot their best round of the tournament with a final round 310. They finished in 16
th place with a three-round score of 944 (315,319,310). Tournament host Sacramento State won the team title with a three-round score of 854.
The Broncs are back in action on March 23 when they compete at the Wallace Jones Warhawk Intercollegiate.
