First Day Results
SAN ANTONIO – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's and women's track and field teams combined for three top-five finishes on Friday at the UTSA Invitational at the Park West Athletics Complex.
Sophomore Michael Gonzalez posted a third-place finish in the men's hammer throw after a mark of 41.94 meters while senior
Jonathan Ojeda finished right behind him in sixth with a throw of 41.54 meters.
Junior
Paul May led the men's team in the shot put with a third-place finish after a throw of 16.57 meters. Senior
Antonio Salinas finished in fifth with a throw of 15.31 meters while Gonzalez finished in seventh with a mark of 14.05 meters. Sophomore Christian Hall-Gardner came in ninth with a throw of 13.94 meters and senior
Venancio Jaramillo came in 10
th with a throw of 12.96 meters.
UTRGV will wrap up the UTSA Invitational on Friday with the men's pole vault leading off the events at 11 a.m. The running events will get underway at 2 p.m. with the women's 4x100-meter relay.
