May Sets Personal Record in Shot Put at Texas Relays

AUSTIN – Junior Paul May set a new personal record in the shot put to lead the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's and women's track and field teams on Friday at the Texas Relays at Mike A. Meyers Stadium.
 
May hit a mark of 16.70 meters to finish in third in section B of the shot put out of 13 total throwers. May's mark ranks second furthest in program history. 
 
The women's 4x100-meter relay team of senior JoVanna Jones, and juniors Idatonye Cheetham-West, Valerie King Mancha, and Destiny Rutherford posted a 30th place finish after posting a time of 47.23 seconds. 
 
Jones added a 59th place finish in the women's 100-meter dash out of 110 total runners after crossing the finish line with a time of 11.99 seconds. Cheetham-West finished in 66th with a time of 12.07 seconds. 
 
The Texas Relays wrap up on Saturday at Mike A. Meyers Stadium.
