Josefine Eriksen of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's and women's track & field teams are WAC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their efforts at the Rice Invitational last Tuesday.
Barthelemy won the high jump with a mark of 2.02 meters, the ninth-best mark in the NCAA and sixth-best mark in the west region this season. He also ran the second leg on a 4x400-meter relay team that placed fifth with a time of 3:29.52.
Cheetham-West won the long jump with a mark of 6.24 meters, the second-best in the NCAA and west region and the third-best in program history. She now holds six of the top eight long jumps in program history. Cheetham-West also ran the 200-meter dash in 26.38, the 90
th-fastest time in the west region, and was part of a 4x400-meter relay team that finished in 4:39.85.
Eriksen won two events, first taking the 800-meter run in 2:10.78, the sixth-fastest time in the NCAA, fifth-fastest in the west region and second-best in program history. She then teamed with sophomore
Tamara Woodley, sophomore
Diamond Lilly and junior Port Isabel alum
Natalie Garza to complete the 4x400-meter relay in 3:50.65, the 11
th-fastest time in the NCAA, ninth-fastest in the west region and eighth-fastest in program history.
