RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's soccer team learned on Wednesday that they have been picked to finish tied for seventh in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, as voted on by the WAC head coaches.
 
UTRGV finished tied with UNLV with 32 points in the poll and was picked ahead of Utah Tech and Houston Baptist, who received 14 and 12 points, respectively. 
 
Seattle U was picked as the favorite in the poll after receiving eight first place votes and finished with 80 points in the poll. Grand Canyon garnered the two other first place votes as they finished second in the poll with 68 points.  
 
California Baptist finished third in the poll with 61 points while Utah Valley finished fourth with 58 points. Air Force was picked fifth with 50 points and San Jose State was picked sixth with 43 points. 
 
The Vaqueros will get the regular season started on Aug. 25 when they host Bryan at 4 p.m. at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
