LUBBOCK – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) indoor track & field teams wrapped up their regular season Saturday at the Jarvis Scott Open at Texas Tech's Sports Performance Center, collecting seven personal records and making seven entries into the school record books.
Sophomore
Hannah Hilding secured her second personal best of the meet with a throw of 13.80 meters to finish 16
thin the women's shot put. This was Hilding's second two-PR weekend of the season. Freshman
Omolola Kuponiyi followed in 19
th in a deep field. Freshman
Antoine Walker also tossed a personal best in the men's shot put, finishing 17
th with a mark of 14.78 meters.
The men's triple jumpers turned in some solid marks. Junior
Kevin Washington led the way, taking eighth with a jump of 15.02 meters, good for No. 3 in school history. Freshman
Hebrew Hunter tabbed the fifth-best mark in program history, jumping 14.67 meters to finish 12
th, and freshman
Aaron Cooper cleared 14.62 meters, finishing 13
th with the sixth-best mark in the record books.
UTRGV's 200-meter dash runners collected four PB performances. In the women's race, junior
Zoë Adams led the pack with a 33
rd-place finish. Sophomore Brownsville Hanna alum
Aliyah Castillo lowered her PR to 26.07. Junior
Jermarrion Stewart paced the men's 200 group, running a PR 21.68 to finish 17
th and take the No. 4 spot in program history. Sophomores
Sam Johnson II and
Jamari Harts both clocked in at 21.89, finishing 32
nd and tying the ninth-best performance in school history with their PBs.

Estrella Medellin lowered her best time in the women's 600-yard run to 1:27.88, finishing 12
th behind freshman
Kailey Salazar, who took 10
th in 1:26.99 in her first time running the event. In the men's 600y, senior Brownsville Porter alum
Jorge Salazar was ninth in 1:12.07. Junior
Samantha Gonzalez earned a fifth-place finish in the women's mile, missing a PR by one-tenth of a second as she clocked in at 5:08.16.

Lani Brewer and Adams clocked the seventh-best race in program history, running 3:52.06 to finish 15
th.
UTRGV's next meet will be the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Indoor Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center Feb. 19-20.
