ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Georgia – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team finished in 13^th at The Peoples Golf Championship on Saturday at Sea Palms Resort after the final round of the tournament was cancelled due to rain. 
 
The Vaqueros had two holes left to complete the final round and were sitting two-under par as a team before the decision to cancel was made. 
 
The results through 36 holes are now official as the Vaqueros finished with a two-round total of 584. UTRGV finished one shot behind Wofford for 12^th place and three shots behind Bellarmine and Marshall for 10^th place. 
 
Freshman and McAllen Memorial alum Esteban Gonzalez led the way for the Vaqueros as he finished tied for 19^th with a two-round total of 142. 
 
Redshirt junior Taj Sutherland tied for 29^th with a two-round total of 144 while senior Javier Neira Garcia tied for 67^thwith a two-round total of 149. 
 
Senior Leonardo Novella tied for 85^th with a three-round score of 152 and freshman Eddie Lai finished tied for 99^th with a two-round total of 154. 
 
Davidson won team title with a two-round total of 547 while Wright State's Shane Ochs took home the individual trophy with a two-round total of 133.
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action from March 18-19 at the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston.
