EUGENE, Oregon – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) track & field freshman Gael Romo, a Weslaco East alum, finished 19th in the first round of the men's 100-meter dash Wednesday at the 2024 USA Track & Field U20 Championships at Oregon's Hayward Field. 
 
Romo took seventh in his heat as he ran 11.04. The top nine finishers moved on to the final. 

UTRGV will have one more student-athlete in action at the meet Thursday when freshman Hebrew Hunter jumps in the men's triple jump starting at 7:30 p.m.
