WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team posted their best round of the JT Poston Invitational by carding a final round 288 on Tuesday at Waynesville Inn and Golf Club.
 
The Vaqueros finished in 14^th place with a three-round score of 874. UTRGV finished just one shot behind Francis Marion for 13^th and five shots back of the top-10. 
 
Lead the way for the Vaqueros was junior Arthit Kruaprayong who finished tied for seventh with a three-round score of 209 after posting a final round one-over par 71. Junior Luis Limon finished tied for 46^th with a three-round score of 220 after posting a final round 72. 
 
Senior Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque posted UTRGV's best round of the day with an even par 70 as he finished tied for 55^th with a three-round score of 221. Redshirt senior Taj Sutherland finished tied for 73^rd with a three-round score of 225 after a final round 75. 
 
Sophomore and McAllen Memorial alum Esteban Gonzalez finished tied for 82^nd with a three-round score of 227 after turning in a final round 75 and sophomore Eddie Lai, who was playing as an individual, finished tied for 70^th with a three-round score of 224 after a round of 75. 
 
Lipscomb took home the team title with a three-round score of 829 after posting a final round 286. Lipscomb's Alejandro Rodriguez won the individual title with a three-round score of 200 after a final round 69. 
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action Sept. 30 – Oct. 1 at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, hosted by Rice.
