RIO GRANDE VALLEY –The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Wednesday that the department's student-athletes now sport a 3.35 cumulative grade point average (GPA) with 217 student-athletes earning Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognition by achieving a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.25 while serving as full-time students as part of a team throughout the spring semester.
The department's 2024-25 academic year GPA was 3.30 after a spring that saw the Vaqueros record a 3.27 GPA.
One hundred sixty-six student-athletes recorded a GPA of at least 3.50 to earn Dean's List recognition, including 66 student-athletes that finished the semester with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
By percentage, 59.94% of student-athletes earned a spot on the AD Honor Roll, 45.86% earned Dean's List recognition, and 18.23% recorded 4.0 GPAs.

Ten sport programs recorded team GPAs above 3.25, led by women's golf, which recorded a 3.74 GPA as a department-best 100% (10-of-10) of their student-athletes earned AD Honor Roll recognition, including a department-best 80% (eight) on the Dean's List and four 4.0 GPAs. Women's tennis, which ranked second with a 3.63 GPA, led the department in percentage of 4.0 GPAs (44.44%). Men's soccer, which had the third-highest GPA in the department at 3.60, placed 76.19% of its student-athletes on the AD Honor Roll while 61.90% were on the Dean's List and 42.86% had 4.0 GPAs, the best among men's teams.
Football had a department-high 38 student-athletes earn AD Honor Roll recognition and a department-high 24 student-athletes on the Dean's List. After one year of having a full team on campus, the football program currently sports a 3.04 cumulative GPA. Women's track & field had the most 4.0 GPAs (10) while ranking second in AD Honor Roll recipients (34) and Dean's List honorees (23). Men's soccer had the second most 4.0 GPAs (nine).
