RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) swimming & diving program will compete in front of the public for the first time this season at the Orange & Gray Intrasquad Meet and Pentathlon.
The meet will begin on Friday at 12:45 p.m. and resume on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the City of Pharr-PSJA Natatorium. The meet is free and open to the public. Complimentary admission can obtained for all home UTRGV swimming & diving meets by getting a UTRGV Swimming & Diving Pass

On Friday, the swimmers will compete in the pentathlon, where each swimmer will swim 100 meters in each discipline, the backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle, and individual medley. Similarly, the divers will execute five different dives, forward, backward, reverse, inward, and twist.
"I am looking forward to watching this new class race for the first time," head swimming & diving coach
Betsy Graham said. "I'll get to see what they can do and where I can place them in upcoming dual meets. And, I'm excited to see the energy on Saturday."
On Saturday, the meet will resemble a traditional meet day for the Vaqueros. The swimmers will compete in 12 events covering all disciplines and receive a glimpse of the competitive environment. The divers will compete during the designated swim breaks of the meet and each diver will be scored for three dives on the 1-meter and 3-meter.
