RIO GRANDE VALLEY – Sophomore
Manou Meulebeek earned fifth place in the 1-meter springboard in day one of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Swimming & Diving Championships, which is tied for the highest individual finish at a conference championship in program history, with a score of 269.95 Wednesday.
All three divers scored for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), leading the Vaqueros to an eighth-place team finish after at the City of Pharr-PSJA Natatorium.
In the preliminary round, Meulebeek finished a team-high third place after scoring 262.35 to qualify for the "A" final. Alongside Meulebeek, senior
Delaney Murphy finished one spot away from the consolation round, placing 17
th with a score of 193.95. Freshman
Samantha Hill finished 23
rd with a score of 188.60 in her first conference championships.
The Vaqueros opened the finals session with top 10 finishes in the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay.
In the 200 medley relay, freshmen
Sasapin Sarawas and
Ava Light and sophomores
Ida Rudelius and
Madiana Lofgren combined for a time of 1:48.75 to finish 10
th. Sarawas set a school record with her leadoff in the 50 backstroke with a time of 26.22.
In the 800 freestyle relay, sophomore
Annaleagh Stahl, freshman
Dia Henderson, Rudelius, and freshman
Sarah Bull finished with an aggregate time of 188.60.
The Vaqueros will continue their run at the MPSF Championships Thursday with the preliminary round starting at 10 a.m. and the finals beginning at 6 p.m. at the City of Pharr-PSJA Natatorium.
All-session passes are still available at a cost of $80 for adults and $65 for children, ages 17 and under, and for seniors, ages 65 and up and can be purchased at

The single-day tickets will cost $45 for adults and $40 for children, ages 17 and under, and for seniors, ages 65 and up. On Wednesday, the price for single-day tickets is $30 for all fans. Single-day tickets are available at

Current students of MPSF institutions will receive free admission to the championships. UTRGV students can claim their free tickets at
GoUTRGV.com/StudentTickets. Current students of all other MPSF institutions must show their student IDs at the door.
