AZUSA, Calif. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) outdoor track & field teams are back on the west coast to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific and in Azusa, California. 
 
The three-day meet runs Thursday through Saturday, but the Vaqueros are set to open competition Friday. The Bryan Clay Invitational is "the fastest and largest collegiate meet" in the United States and brings athletes from schools of all sizes across the country and the professional ranks to Southern California. Fans can watch the meet at FloTrack.org.
 
A few familiar Southland Conference (SLC) foes are also making the trip out west, including Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Stephen F. Austin. The Vaqueros will line up against some of the top competitors in the nation and get a good look at how they stack up in the NCAA West. 
 
Currently, eight Vaqueros are ranked in the top 50 in the NCAA West in their respective events. Reigning SLC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, freshman Dior Williams, is13^th in the region in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Senior Daniel Siaffa is ranked in the top 50 in both the men's 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Freshman Antwoine Warren is sixth in the West in men's high jump.
