The most experienced pitcher on the Broncs staff with 43 appearances in three seasons... Has a career record of 11-13 in 163.0 innings of work...  Also has three complete games and 80 strikeouts in his career.

2000 (Junior Season): Served as the Broncs number one starter and was the tough luck story, losing three of his first four starts, despite a 4.50 earned run average... For the season, he had a strong 5.48 ERA in 70 2/3 innings of work... He appeared in 15 games, including 13 starts... Picked up his first win of the season, going five innings against Texas A&M-Kingsville (2/16)... Had his longest outing of the season against Western Illinois, allowing just two earned runs on eight hits in 7 2/3 innings of work (3/7)... Also picked up a win against Incarnate Word, going five innings (3/31)... Took the loss against UT-San Antonio despite allowing just two earned runs in seven innings of work (4/4)... Also had a season high seven strikeouts against the Roadrunners.

1999 (Sophomore Season): Thompson was 4-3 in 12 appearances, including six starts for the Broncs... His ERA was 8.12 in 47.2 innings pitched... He threw two complete games and struck out 26.

1998 (Freshman Season): His 4-4 record was an excellent start for any young pitcher against the rugged schedule that the Broncs played... Thompson started four games and completed one... His 16 appearances tied for the team high... Saw action in 44.2 innings.

Whitehouse High School: Thompson was a four-year letterman in baseball for Whitehouse High School... In his senior, Thompson was 7-2 with a 3.00 ERA... He also hit .474 as a senior...  He was a four-time first team all-district selection and a two-time first team all-state pick.

Personal: Thompson is the son of Tony and Judy Thompson... born on October 12, 1978, in Lubbock, Texas... In high school, Thompson received four Academic All-District awards... He plans to coach high school baseball upon completion of his baseball playing days... majoring in history.
