EDINBURG, Texas - The University of Texas Pan American men's and women's Track and Field teams hit the road again as they compete in a triad of meets starting today in California.
First the Broncs will begin the 53rd Annual Mt. San Antonio College Relays in Walnut, California just outside Los Angeles. Also on Thursday the Broncs will compete at the Cal State-Los Angeles Open at the Jesse Owens Track Complex. On Friday the Broncs will continue competing in the Mt. SAC meet. On Saturday the Broncs will compete in the Beach Invitational at Cerritos College hosted by Long Beach State University.
The men's and women's teams are coming off of a good showing at they Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The men's 4x400 relay team of James Strachan, Hector Garza, Humberto Garza and Guillermo Martinez finished with a season best time of 3:20.29.
On the women's side, Destiny Schulze, Alexia Frank, Samantha Villareal and Jasmine Webb finished with a time of 3:59.90 in the women's 4x400-meter relay. Webb also finished strong and will be looking to improve her time in the 100-meter dash where she posted a time of 11.59s.
Mathew Kotut, Luis Serrano, Wally Gonzalez each had season bests at the Texas Relays and look to improve on those times at the Angelo State Relays. Kotut posted a time of 15:01.64 in the 5000-meter run which was good for sixth place. Serrano also had a seasonal best in the 5000-meter run where he finished with a time of 15:31.35. Gonzalez placed sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.72.
