COLLEGE STATION – The doubles team of seniors Carlo Izurieta and Alberto Mello picked up a victory in the Doubles Main Draw to leda The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's tennis team at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regionals on Friday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
 
Izurieta and Mello defeated Rice's Juan Jose Rodriguez and Daniel Sancho Arbizu 8-5 to advance in the main draw. Izurieta and Mello will face J. Steinhausen and H. Allen on Saturday for a chance to advance to the round of 16.
 
Izurieta also saw action in singles where he fell to Texas A&M's Matthis Ross but did advance in the back draw. 
 
Junior Misha Kvantaliani also fell in the singles main draw to TCU's Sander Jong but also advanced in the back draw. 
 
Play will continue on Saturday starting at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
