RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Friday that the men's golf team will open up the spring season at the LaTour Intercollegiate from February 14-15 at LaTour Country Club.
 
The LaTour Intercollegiate, hosted by Nicholls State University, will be the first of five tournaments before the Western Athletics Conference Championship, which is being held from April 30-May 2 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
 
"The team and I cannot wait to get back out there," UTRGV head coach Philip Tate said. "We are grateful for the opportunity and I know we are going to compete at our best. We look forward to representing UTRGV as best as we can."
 
The Vaqueros will look to defend its title at the Colin Montgomery Invitational when it competes there from March 8-9 at Augusta Pines Golf Club. This will mark the seventh straight year UTRGV competes at the Colin Montgomery Invitational, which is hosted by Houston Baptist University.
 
UTRGV then tees it up at the Grand Canyon University Invitational from March 15-16 at GCU University Golf Course.
 
UTRGV will once again host the Big Texan Invitational at Comanche Trace Golf Course from March 22-23 in Kerrville before closing out the regular season at the El Macero Classic, hosted by UC Davis, from April 10-12 at El Macero Country Club.
 
Protocols regarding spectators for the Big Texan Invitational will be announced at a later date. 
 
This season, the NCAA Regional Championships will take place May 17-19 at regional sites while the NCAA Championship will be held from May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
