SPRING – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team finished sixth out of 16 teams at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational hosted by Houston Baptist University at the Augusta Pines Golf Course on Tuesday. 
 
The Vaqueros posted a 298 in the final round of their first spring tournament, following up Monday's 307 and 297 in the opening rounds. 
 
UTRGV finished one stroke behind Nicholls and Weber State, which finished in a tie for fourth. Southeastern Louisiana (868) took the top spot in the team standings. 
 
Vaqueros sophomore Taj Sutherland, and freshman Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque both finished one over par with a third round 73. Sutherland's three-round score was 219, capturing him a top 10 finish in a tie for seventh. Bethencourt Duque was tied for 16^th with a three-round score of 224. 
 
Sophomore Sebastian Lundberg finished tied for 33^rd with a cumulative score of 229 after posting a 76 in round three. Sophomore Leonardo Novella posted a third round 76, tying for his best round of the tournament, to notch a total score of 232 and finish tied for 44^th. Senior Tennoshin Ogawa was tied for 68^th with a three-round score of 241 after posting an 83 in the final round. 
 
UTRGV's next scheduled tournament is the Grand Canyon University Invitational on March 14-15 in Phoenix, Arizona.
