RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Wednesday plans to host the UTRGV Golf Classic, benefiting the men's and women's golf programs, on Nov. 6 at 9 a.m. at Champion Lakes Golf Course, the future home of the Vaqueros Golf Center.
The UTRGV Golf Classic is a 4-person scramble with a cost of $700 per team that includes breakfast from Rudy's Country Store & Bar-B-Q, a catered lunch, hospitality courtesy of 5x5 Brewing Co. and Casa De Palmas, tee gifts, prizes, and awards.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available, including the scoreboard for $1,000 and individual holes for $500 each. Participants can also purchase a Vaqueros Bundle which includes both team registration and hole sponsorship for $1,000.
All proceeds from the registration fee and the sponsorships directly benefit the UTRGV men's and women's golf programs.
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with special guest
Genaro Davila, Miura Golf's master fitter who originally fit
Abraham Ancer for Miura clubs in 2017. Ancer, who was born in McAllen, grew up in Reynosa, and went to Sharyland High School, currently sports an Official World Golf Ranking of 77.
