LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros swimming & diving program fell 241.50-58.50 to the New Mexico State (NMSU) Aggies and 232.00-67.00 to the Northern Arizona (NAU) Lumberjacks Saturday at the NM State Swimming & Diving Complex.
Freshman
Manou Meulebeek continued her winning streak in the 1-meter springboard with a 278.80. She has won four straight 1-meter springboard events across four meets.
Freshman
Annaleagh Stahl had a strong performance in the 100 (57.57) and 200 backstroke (2:04.71) earned five points for the Vaqueros.
Junior
Delaney Murphy scored one point for the Vaqueros with her fifth-place finish in the 3-meter springboard (216.05).
Overall, 11 Vaqueros tallied 16 personal bests, and three Vaqueros set UTRGV records.
Stahl rewrote the 400 individual medley UTRGV record and personal best 4:38.28. Sophomore
Olivia Votava swam well in the 1000 freestyle for a UTRGV record and personal best 11:19.78. Freshman
Ida Rudelius earned a UTRGV record and personal best 55.85 in the 100 freestyle.
Rudelius tallied two more personal bests in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly for a team-high three personal bests on the day.
Three Vaqueros had recorded two personal bests during the meet including, freshman
Madiana Lofgren in the 50 and 200 freestyle. Sophomore
AJ Rogers in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and freshman
Mia Gonzalez in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly.
In the 100 breaststroke, freshmen
Diara Aleman and
Caitlyn Brown earned personal bests.
Freshman
Caitlynn Rubio earned a personal best in the 200 breaststroke, freshman
Abygail Martinez tallied a personal best in the 500 freestyle, and freshman
Audrey Trevino clocked a personal best in the 100 freestyle.
The Vaqueros will travel to Idaho as they compete in the Vandal Invite from Nov. 22-24.
