SAN ANTONIO – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team finished in second place at the Military City Collegiate, hosted by UTSA, on Tuesday at TPC San Antonio. 
 
It's UTRGV's second top-two finish following a win at the Compadres Collegiate to open the spring season. 
 
UTRGV finished with a three-round score of 885 after a final round 308. The Vaqueros finished four strokes behind UTSA, who won the event with a three-round score of 881, while finishing ahead of teams Middle Tennessee, Abilene Christian, DePaul, UIW, High Point, Western Kentucky, Lamar, ULM, UT Arlington, and Central Michigan. 
 
Freshman Jorge Martin Sampedro paced the Vaqueros as he finished tied for eighth place. Sampedro carded a final round 78 to finish with a three-round score of 220. Juniors Esteban Gonzalez and Rodolphe Cicala both finished tied for 15^th with three-round scores of 223. Gonzalez posted a final round 79 while Cicala carded a final round 77. 
 
Sophomore Gabriel Dulon Villoslada finished tied for 26^th with a three-round score of 226 after a final round 77. Senior Arthit Kruaprayong finished tied for 33^rd with a three-round score of 227 after posting a final round 76 and freshman Brock Porter, who competed as an individual, finished tied for 38^th with a three-round score of 229 as he completed his second round with an even par 72 before posting a final round 82. 
 
UTSA's Joshua Hong won the individual title with a three-round score of 215.
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action from March 16-17 at the All-American Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Houston, at the Golf Club of Houston.
