KERRVILLE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team is set to compete at the Southland Conference (SLC) Tournament starting on Monday at Comanche Trace.
The 54-hole event will feature 18 holes each day through Wednesday with the final hole being aired on
ESPN+.
The Club at Old Hawthorne plays 7,253 yards and is a par 72.
The Competition
There will be an 8-team field that will compete for the championship that includes UTRGV, New Orleans, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls, Lamar, and East Texas A&M.

The Vaqueros lead the Southland Conference in the Scoreboard rankings coming ranked at 128
th. Lamar is ranked 160
th, East Texas A&M is ranked 200
th, Southeastern Louisiana is ranked 228

th, Incarnate Word is ranked 245
th, and Nicholls is ranked 275

The Vaqueros finished tied for 12
th at Tiger Intercollegiate out of 19 teams with a three-round score of 873. UTRGV posted rounds of 281, 293, and 299.
Jorge Martin Sampedro and
Esteban Gonzalez both tied for 35
th with a three-round score of 216. Sampedro posted rounds of 70, 70, and 76 while Gonzalez turned in rounds of 71, 74, and 71.
Rodelphe Cicala finished tied for 51
st with a three-round score of 218 with rounds of 69, 73, and 76.
Brock Porter finished tied for 76
th with a three-round score of 224 with rounds of 71, 76, and 77.
Gabriel Dulon Villoslada finished tied for 81
stwith a three-round score of 226 after rounds of 74, 76, and 76.
Last Time at SLC Championship
UTRGV finished in third place in last year's Southland Conference Championship with a three-round score of 862 after posting rounds of 297, 282, and 283. Augusta finished in first with a three-round score of 843 while Incarnate Word finished in second with a three-round score of 852.
Taj Sutherland finished in third with a three-round total of 208 with rounds of 73, 71, and 64.
Esteban Gonzalez finished tied for ninth with a three-round score of 216 with rounds of 73, 69, and 74.
Arthit Kruaprayong finished tied for 13
th with a three-round score of 217 with rounds of 73, 70, and 74.
Emilio Gil Leyva finished tied for 23
rd with a three-round score of 222 with rounds of 79, 72, and 71. Luis Limón posted a pair of rounds of 78 and 76 while
Eddie Lai posted a round of 78.
Augusta's Bo Blanchard won the SLC individual championship with a three-round score of 200.
