Outdoor - The UTPA sophomore recorded 12 top-10 finishes during the outdoor track and field season... best finish came at the Tom Tellez Invitational where he placed first overall with a time of 22.20 in the 200-meter dash... finished second overall with a time of 10:86 at the Border Olympics in the 100-meter dash... placed third overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.85 at the Border Olympics... crossed the end line in second place at the Bobcat Open with a time of 22.31 in the 200-meter dash... notched second place laurels in the 200-meter dash at the ASU/David Noble Relays with a time of 21.82... finished third overall at the Bobcat Open with a time of 21.85 in the 200-meter dash... recorded a fourth-place showing at the Bobcat Open in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11:15... placed fifth overall in the 100-meter dash at the Tom Tellez Invitational with a time of 11:05... Indoor - Cantu broke a program record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.03 at the Houston Indoor Classic... finished 11th overall at the Wes Kittley Six-Way with a mark of 6.64 in the 55-meter dash.

Falfurrias High School
Cantu was an all-around standout for Falfurrias High School during his prep career... won the Texas 3A State Championship in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.73 as a senior... won the regional championship in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes that season... was a three-time regional qualifier in track and field... placed fourth in the 200-meter dash at the state championships with a time of 21.73 in his senior campaign... was a four-time All-District 31-3A and All-South Texas selection in basketball... holds the school record for most points in a game with 39... was a three-time All-District 31-3A selection on the football field as a receiver... holds the school record for most yards in a game with 213... was a three-time All-South Texas selection on the gridiron... earned 10 letters at Falfurrias - four in basketball, three in track and field and three in football.
